Sandal Size Guide: How to Measure Your Foot and Find the Right Fit

Shoe sizes vary from brand to brand, so ordering sandals by your usual size alone can be hit or miss. The most reliable way to get the right fit is to compare the length of your foot to the length of the insole. It takes about two minutes and all you need is a sheet of paper, a pen and a ruler or tape measure.

How to measure your foot

  1. Place a sheet of paper on a hard floor with one edge flat against a wall.
  2. Stand on the paper with your heel touching the wall and your weight evenly on both feet.
  3. Mark the tip of your longest toe. This isn't always your big toe.
  4. Measure from the edge of the paper to your mark in centimetres.
  5. Repeat with the other foot and use the longer measurement.

Tip: measure later in the day. Feet tend to swell slightly as the day goes on, so an evening measurement gives you a more realistic number.

Jimmies size chart

Jimmies are unisex and use US sizing.

Size Men's US Women's US Insole length Weight (pair + bag)
XS 4-5.5 5-6.5 24.5 cm 155 g
S 6-8.5 7-9 26.5 cm 175 g
M 9-10.5 10-11.5 28.5 cm 200 g
L 11-13 12-14 30.5 cm 215 g
XL 13-14 14-15.5 32.5 cm 230 g

How to pick your size

Choose the smallest size whose insole is at least as long as your foot. If your foot measures longer than an insole, go up to the next size.

Example: your foot measures 27.2 cm. The Small insole is 26.5 cm, which is shorter than your foot, so the Medium (28.5 cm) is the right choice.

Going by shoe size instead

If you don't have a tape measure handy, find your usual US shoe size in the chart. If you're at the very top of a size range, or you often find shoes run short on you, it's worth measuring to confirm before you order.

What a good fit looks like

  • Your heel sits fully on the footbed, not hanging off the back.
  • Your toes stay on the sandal and don't hang over the front edge.
  • The straps feel snug across your foot without pinching.

EVA doesn't stretch or break in the way leather does, so it's worth choosing the right length from the start rather than hoping a pair will loosen up.

Buying Jimmies as a gift?

Ask for their shoe size (or check a pair of their shoes), then match it to the chart above. Remember that men's and women's US sizes differ, so make sure you're reading the right column.

FAQ

What if I'm between sizes?

Size up. A little extra length is more comfortable than toes or heels hanging over the edge, especially on wet floors.

Are Jimmies men's or women's sizes?

Both. The sizing is unisex, and the chart shows the men's and women's US equivalents for each size.

Do Jimmies stretch over time?

Not much. They're made from EVA foam, which keeps its shape, so pick your size by insole length rather than expecting them to stretch.

What if the size isn't right?

Jimmies come with 90-day returns. Email hello@jimmiesfootwear.com first and we'll send you the return details.
